About Rebecca
Rebecca Lieb, MA, MC (she/her or no pronouns) is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) working from Treaty 6 and Treaty 7 territory who provides services virtually across most provinces and territories in what is currently known as Canada. Rebecca’s professional interests are primarily anti-oppressive, trauma-informed counselling and facilitation practices.
Before becoming a counsellor, Rebecca had a decade-long career providing support services for LGBTQ2S+ youth, advocating for disability justice through working with children and families, and engaging in Black-Indigenous solidarity movements for racial justice. Rebecca also founded and operated The QUILTBAG from 2018-2021 and was a managing and contributing editor of GUTS Canadian Feminist Magazine from 2013-2020.
Counselling Services
I see anyone 18 and over for individual or group therapy. I do not provide couples counselling.
I offer sliding scale appointments for Black and/or Indigenous trans and two-spirit clients with financial barriers.
If your insurance covers services provided by Canadian Certified Counsellors, you will be able to submit receipts for reimbursement. At this time, I am unable to provide direct billing to insurance plans.
My Approach
I believe that curiosity and humility about our role in systems of oppression, in our relationships to ourselves, and in our relationships to each other are some of the most important skills we can learn. I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to be kept company in the hard parts of being a person. I am an abolitionist and I primarily use systemic, person-centred/humanistic, somatic, solutions-focused, and feminist therapies.
Training
I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC, member #11241795). I graduated from Athabasca University’s Master of Counselling program in 2022 and I completed a 400-hour practicum at the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton. I have completed advanced level training in Somatic Experiencing. I am committed to ethical practice and continued professional growth, and I receive regular supervision from a Registered Psychologist.
